CRICKET LEAGUE
ANNUAL MEETING Tlie twenty-third annual meeting of the Otago Cricket League was held in the Trades Hall last night, when a good attendance of delegates was presided over by Mr W. D. Richards. The annual report stated that the season had been a most successful one, 22 teams having entered for the competition, an increase of five. During the Easter holidays a representative league team toured Milton, Owaka. and Balclutha. Matches were'played at all those centres, but none was won. The balance sheet was a very satisfactory one. Moving the adoption of the annual report, the Chairman said that the business of the league had, been carried out with efficiency; this was due to the manner in which the executive and the secretary had worked. The executive was one of the best he had ever worked with The motion was carried. OFFICE-BEARERS. The election of office-bearers resulted:—Patrons —the Mayor (Rev. E. T. H. Russell, W. H. M'Kenzie, A. Burrell, A. Melville. W. B. Taverner, W. Strang, H. H. Gaston, A. Ferguson, M; C. Henderson, and W. D. Richards; trustee, Mr J. K. Macfie; auditors, Messrs A. Borland and W. Clarkson; secretary, Mr E. P. Hellyer; treasurer, Mr J, H. W. Gould; executive—Messrs S. Ringrose, Duncan, A. Symonds. E. Agnew, Stevens, T. Geary, T. Whyte, W. Templeton, G. Berry, Wheeler, E. Manley, S. Howie, S. Marrett, Johnston, D. Wilton, Belcher, Patton, Malcolm, Hill, H. Manley, R. Henderson, Day, Fay, Ledgerwood, Mowatt, Rowling, Batchelor. GENERAL. It was resolved that the competition be divided into three sections on account of the large number of teams participating. The meeting decided that the secretary be instructed to apply for the use of 13 wickets and also the pavilion on the Oval. ■. . A number of written applications for wickets by affiliated clubs was referred to the incoming committee, with power to act. • ' . Seven new clubs were granted affiliation with the league. The opening day was set down for October 5. . .. , On the motion of Mr S. Rmgrose it was resolved that the O.C.A. be approached regarding the securing of clearances from clubs by players who transferred from the league to the association. ) Various alterations to the rules were made in accordance with notice of motion.
