'THE SKIN GAME ’

PRESENTATION TO-MORROW NIGHT Galsworthy considers / The Skin Game’ the greatest of his plays and says of it: “It is the only play I have written that has really been a success financially.” It should, therefore, prove of interest for a Dunedin audience to have the opportunity of witnessing this play. The Dunedin Repertory Society lias many successes to its credit, but ‘ The. Skin Game ’ is by far the most ambitious play yet attempted by it. In order to make the play successful artistically, the society has cast in leading roles two of the most experienced of its actors, Miss Anita Winkel, who plays Chloe Hornblower, and Mr Richard White, who plays Hornblower, her father-in-law._ Mr White has already been seen in Dunedin in many* excellent character studies, but the part of Hornblower, which was prig l " .nally plaved by Edmund Gwenn, should ’afford him greater opportunities than any other part he has attempted. He is particularly suited to the role, and should give one of the most outstanding amateur performances yet seen here. Miss Violet Livingston and Mr Fred. Avent, who will be seen as Mrs Hillcrest and Charles Hornblower, have both had experience abroad, but have not yet been seen on the amateur stao'e here. The play lends itself to extravagant staging, and Mr Wynne is said to lie making this accompaniment to the play of an appropriate standard. The box plan at the D.J.C. is non 1 ' open.
