FUNDS FOR NEW BUILDING

RUSSELL STREET SUNDAY SCHOOL BAZAAR The Russell Street Sunday School was established nearly 70 years ago as a branch of First Church. The present building has done service for all these years, but the time has arrived when it, must be replaced. The deacons’ court has approved the erection of a new up-to-date building on condition that half the money is in hand before tenders are called. The Russell Street Women’s Club has organised sales of work for several years, and the proceeds from the sale of work opened this afternoon and which will continue this evening, are expected to substantially augment the sum already in hand. • The Hon. W. Downie Stewart, M.P., performed the opening ceremony this afternoon, and expressed the hope that the efforts to -secure a new building at an early date would be successful. Those in' charge of the stalls were:— Fancy—Mesdames Keogh, Irvine, and Hornall; produce and books, Misses M'Connell and Fox; flower, Miss Melville and Mrs Mazey; cake—-Mesdames W. Ewing, Gunn, and Huntly; sweets, Misses Grace Stewart and Knox; plain —Mesdames M'Knight, Smith, and Carruthers; Bible class; Misses Busby sfcid Annie Smith; refreshment:—Miss Armstrong and Mesdames Logan and M'Gregor; Busy Bees—Mrs Shlombach, Misses Molly Allan and Hutton, and Busy Bees.
