14 APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED 12 NEW MEMBERS [Special to the ‘ Star.’] WELLINGTON, June 22. Fourteen appointments to the Legislative Council are announced by the Prime Minister, including twelve new, members, 'two of whom arc prominent in the Labour movement. They will hold office for seven years. The names are as follow: Sir Heaton Rhodes (Canterbury). Mr L. M. Isitt (Canterbury). Mr John Alexander (Auckland). Mr Harold Russell (chairman of Hawke’s Bay County). Mr Fred. Waite (the former mcm-i her for Clutha). Mr Elliott Davis (Auckland). Mr Tom O’Byruc (Invercargill). Mr Thomas Bloodworth (Auckland)* Mr AV. Hayward (Christchurch). Mr Alex. Burns (a former chairman! of the Auckland Education Board). Mr John M‘Leod (New Plymouth, a; former chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Union). Mr AV. Perry (Wellington, a prominent officer of the Returned Soldiers’ Association). The Hon. G. J. Anderson (formerly! Minister of Labour in the Massey Government) . Mr Vincent Ward (ex-member for Invercargill). [Sir Heaton Rhodes and Mr Isitt aro the two members reappointed.]
