SHIPWRECK RELIEF SOCIETY
EXECUTIVE MEETING s Present at yesterday’s meeting of the executive of the Shipwreck Belief Society of New Zealand were the chairman (Mr E. C. Hazlett), Messrs G. L. Denniston, J- H. Gilbert, W. Clarke, Captain Dillncr, and Captain Mac-Lean. The Chairman extended a welcome to Captain Mac Lean, who had been appointed to a position on the executive. Mr E. C. Hazlett was reappointed chairman, Mr J. H. Gilbert hon. treasurer, and Mr E. S. Wilson secretary of the society for the ensuing year. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr S. K. Sleigh expressing regret that he had retired from the committee, and thanking him for his past services. It was decided to ask Captain Coll M'Donald to fill the vacancy. Acceptance of his appointment as the society’s representative at Wanganui was received from Mr W. A. Cameron, collector of Customs, who has recently been transferred from Gisborne, and it was decided to ask Mr G. L. Prichard, who is now acting in a similar capacity at that port, to take the post at Gisborne. The Huddart-Parkcr Company forwarded cheques for £2 K3s and £2 ss, being amounts collected for the society on the Wanganella.— Received. The following members of the executive were appointed an emergency committee to deal with any matters that might arise during the ensuing year; the chairman, Messrs Fraser, Gilbert, and Wilson, and Captain Mac Lean.
