WOMAN’S DISTINCTION
RECORD OF 400 YEARS BROKEN For the first time in 400 years a woman lias been elected a iellow of the Royal College of Physicians. The honour is one of the greatest of the medical profession. She is Dr Helen Marion Macpherson Mac Kay, physician to the Queen’s Hospital for Children, London. Dr Mac Kay is a member of the Medical Research Council. She and her hospital colleagues are the discoverers of a simple and effective cure lor iulant ana?mia. They lound that iron and ammonium citrate, added to the normal milk diet, prevented and cured amemia, increased infection resistance, and improved growth rate. Dr Mac Kay became a member of the Royal College of Physicians seventeen vears ago and a member of the Royal College of Surgeons twenty years ago. She has been assistant physician to the Infants' Hospital, Westminster, assistant pathologist and house physician to the Royal Free Hospital, London, and senior medical officer of Bolingbroke Hospital. She is an authority on dietetics fo.' children and rickets.
