The Opposition, is protesting against this course. * t * * Mr Dallas has resigned the position of French master at the Dunedin High School. * * * * A private letter from Melbourne states that a great deal of sickness, principally typhoid fever and pneumonia, is prevalent in that city just now. * * * * The Australian eleven beat Notts by three wickets. Notts 173 and 1261 Australians, 131 and 169 for seven wickets (Blackham 46 not out, M‘Donnell 33). * * * * The organ for Knox Church is on board the ship Dunedin, just arrived, and its erection will be proceeded with in about a week. *** . * Jack Frost has been kind to his votaries in Dunedin this year, and another splendid day’s curling was enjoyed at the Woodhaugh Rink to-day (Saturday). * * * * The New Zealand Rugby team, playing at Sydney, beat New'South Wales by three goals and a try to nil. The New Zealanders won all the eight matches played during the tour, scoring 157 points, against 17 by their opponents. * • * + At the annual meeting of the Roslyn Bowling Club the following officers were .elected :—President, Mr J. Curie ; vice-presidents, Messrs R. Chisholm and R. Church; secretary, Mr P. Duncan; treasurer, Mr J. A. Park; committee— Messrs T. Callander, D. Scott, W. Carlton, G. Armstrong, and W. Wilson.
