FORESTERS
The fortnightly meeting of Court Woodlands Bride was held on Monday, in the court room, Embassy Salon. Chief Ranger Sister A. Shepperd presided, and opened the court at 7.J0. All officers except the Sub-chief Ranger answered the roll call. The Woodwards reported that the Sub-chief Ranger was still laid aside through illness, but was progressing favourably. The sickness report indicated that in all twenty members were ill and on the funds. A letter was received from a member requesting that her resignation be accepted as from the end of the quarter, June 18. Court Bruce, Milton, wrote advising that the sixty-ninth anniversary ball of that court would be held on the evening of August 9, and that the centenary of the order would also be celebrated in conjunction with the court’s festivities. Two double complimentary tickets were forwarded, and a request-that'as many members as possible support the iunctions. It was decided that the chief ranger and another officer officially represent the court. Correspondence was received from the secretary of the Otago United Friendly Societies’ Council relative to a request" from the local branch- of the British Medical Association for a conference with all societies for the purpose of explaining the list system of lodge work, and asking that the question of lodge fees be reviewed and the farmer rate restored. The court appointed two represeutativs to attend the conference on J uly 12, their instructions being to place the views of the court before conference. The Chief Ranger, assisted by the officers, initiated three members, who were welcomed in the usual manner. Five propositions were received, the secretary being instructed to forward the necessary forms. The Chief Ranger specially reminded all members that the court’s fortieth anniversary meeting, social and dance, would lie held in the Embassy Salon, the secretary being instructed to invite all courts and the District Executive The catering arrangements were placed in the hands of tiic assistant .secretary, the Social Committee being instructed to arrange the dance programme and provide card tables for anterooms.
