TREATMENT IN PRISON ALLEGATION OF “TORTURE.”LONDON, June 2. Lord Marley, presiding at a confeiv ence held under the auspices of the committee for the relief of victims of German Fascism, announced that Herr, Kurt Thomas, a delegate from the Saar, had not been permitted to land iu Britain. A journalist was told by Lord Marley, that Herr Thomas, who was coming to give the conference a report from the Communist, Dr Thalmann, who is still imprisoned m Germany, arrived at New* haven. He was unable to speak English or French well. '• An immigration official ignorant ol German was unable to apprehend the reason of Herr Thomas’s visit. When the committee heard that Herr Thoma* was delayed, it communicated with th« Home Office, but Herr Thomas had been! sent hack to the Saar.

Miss Isabel Brown, secretary of th«i conference, said that, although the police prohibited Herr Thomas from asking Dr Thalmann whether he was well treated, the question was asked, and Dr Thalmann replied: “ 1 have been, and am being, tortured.”
