REPERTORY SOCIETY.

TO THB EDITOR. Sir, —I read with interest the published annual report of the above society. May I express the opinion that those responsible have. , every reason for gratification at the excellent showing m this report? For the first year, of its existence the society has done exceedingly well. 1 am not a member of the society, and therefore was not present at the annual meeting. I should like to draw attention to one particular. In justification, if necessary, 1 will constitute myself a representative of that large following of the society who take a keen interest in the amateur dramatic art for which the society stands in a semi-public capacity, and who attend and enjoy its public performances. No mention has been made of two members of last year’s committee who were (apparently) not re-elected. There is no doubt in my mind as a casual observer that some excellent work must have been clone for the society by the past chairman (Mr A. C. Stephens) and by Mr L. H. Frude. Neither of these gentlemen is mentioned amongst the names of the new committee, nor were their services recognised amongst, no doubt, well-merited thanks publicly accorded several others. This seems to me to be a grave breach of etiquette. If an accidental omission, would it not be a gracious action on the part of the new committee to place on public record the society’s appreciation of these gentlemen’s efforts?—l am, etc., Colonel Newcomb. June 20.
