PETITION TO KING

TEST OF PENMANSHIP PERTH, June 4. The petition for secession to be presented to the King and the Houses of Parliament will be written by band, and will be 781 ft long and 13in wide. The hero of the piece is Air E. Q. Saunders, late of the Crown Law ■ Department. s The penmanship to the layman appears perfect. Any such petition must be handwritten to be “ received ” by the King and the British Parliament. Air Saunders has to do three copies. One is the address to His Alajesty, another tb the House of Lords, and the third to the House of Commons. Roughly, there, are 900 lines in each scroll, which is 26ft long. Erasures of any kind are not permitted. 1 Even joins in the scroll must be written over to show that the document has not been interfered with. Although over sixty, Mr Saunders has a steady hand. The petition will go to London in * jarrnh casket.
