OPPORTUNE TIME FOR DEVELOPMENT SCHEMES [Pee United' Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 21. Giving evidence before the Native Affairs Commission to-day, Judge J. W. Browne, president of the Aotea District Maori Land Board, stressed the desirability of the retention of the land boards, and pointed out the possible ill effects of centralisation iu handling Native affairs. _ • ■ Ho emphasised that the time was most opportune to inaugurate development schemes, which were the first practical attempt to enable the Maoris to become a self-supporting and selfrespecting people.
