INVALUABLE ADVICE
FARMERS' TRIBUTE TO LORD BLEDISLOE EXTENSION OF TERM SUGGESTED [Pbb United Press Association.l WELLINGTON, June 19. Warm tributes to the keen interest taken by the Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) in fanning matters in the dominion were paid by speakers at the annual meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand to-day. It was resolved unanimously to express the society’s appreciation in a letter to. His Excellency, and also to urge the Government to use its influence in the direction of •, having His Excellency’s term of office extended. Mr J. Absolom (Hawke’s Bay) said ho considered it was particularly appropriate that the society should seek to prolong Lord Bledisloe’s stay in New Zealand. “I think I am right in saying that no other Governor-General has done so much for the farmers in this country, and we all appreciate what he has done,” said Mr J. Linklater, M.P. Mr L. Maclean (Hawke’s Bay) said he looked upon Lord Bledisloe as the farmer Governor-General of the dominion. His interest in the industry and in all other phases of the country’s activities had been a magnificent inspiration to the people. If it were at all feasible action should be taken to have His Excellency’s term of office extended. Professor R. E. Alexander, C.M.G., said ho thought no other Governor-Gen-eral had been so willing to help, and his advice had been invaluable.
