A DEBATABLE POINT
[Pun United Press Association.]
INVERCARGILL, June 18
Reference to the deadlock regarding the South Island secondary schools’ ioui'uameut was made at a meeting of tho Southland Rugby Union to-night by Mr R. T. Meredith, who suggested that the union should get into touch with tlip Otago and Canterbury Unions and see if something could be done to get the tournament under way again, ft was too valuable an event to let slip into oblivion, he said. Mr A", d. Geddes said the question was a delicate one for the union. The schools had always run the tournaments themselves. He favoured the age limit that-had been suggested. It was a debatable point whether terms students were actually school pupils for the purpose of deciding eligibility. It was decided to write to the Canterbury and Otago Unions expressing regret" that such a position had arisen, and inquiring if anything could ho done to get the parties together and have tho fixtures gone on with.
