COMMUNITY SINGING
Tiie usual weekly sing will take place uu Friday in the Strand Theatre, by courtesy of Fuller-Ilayward, and owing to the length of programmes it has been decided to start at 12.15 p.m., instead of 12.30. Last week there was a tremor dons audience, in (act, hundreds were turned away, so it will be necessary to go early to secure a good seat. The big success of the Phillip Sisters last week brought in good financial returns, and one donor who termed himself “ Old Salt ” sent in £1 for the beautiful playing on the cornet of Miss Phillip. The committee have had several requests for these two young ladies to appear again, and it is pleasing to be able to announce that they have acceded to our request and will appear next Friday. Mr IT. P, Desmoulin will again be leader, and he has promised to learn and sing ‘Hie Last Hound Up.’ so that he will receive the donation that has been promised by a lis-tener-in. Mr Alf. Pettitt is taking the place of Miss Holmes, who unfortunately has had to resign owing to her health. We have advertised the words of our ‘Ode,’ which is sung to the tune of ‘My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.’ Listeners-in who have asked for these will be able to get them from the paper. Everything promises another good “ sing ” this week. Lis-teners-in are urgently requested to send their donations, no matter how small, to the secretary, care Bcgg’s, or to the Strand Theatre.
