ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS

VISITOR INJURED. Robert Retallick, of Christchurch', who is at present visiting Dunedin, met with an accident yesterday which resulted in a compound fracture of the left leg. The man, who is 42 years of age, was staying with relatives at_ Brown street, Abbotsford, and the injury was received when he slipped on the footpath as he was leaving the house. He was admitted to the hospital at 12.30 p.m. HURT AT FOOTBALL. William James Barrow, aged twentyone, of Lismore lane, Kaikorai, received concussion while playing for Roslyn-Wakari against Northern at the Gardens. He was taken to the hospital at 4.40. FOUND DEAD. Advice has been received from Ranfurly that a man named Antony Alexander James Marshall, aged fifty-six,-was found on Friday morning two miles from his home with his throat cut. An inquest was held at Oturehua before Mr J. Nicolson, J.P., and a jury of four. The'finding was that the wound was self-inflicted while the deceased was in a depressed state of mind. The deceased was an employee on the Government race at Idaburn, and left for there at 6.20 a.m. on Thursday, The fact that he was missing was not discovered until 9 o’clock that night. A search party set out that night, and scoured the countryside until 1.30 a.m. The following morning a search party, consisting of fifty persons, again set out. and the body was discovered at 9.30 a.m.
