ABANDONED CAN FOUND Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. \ , SYDNEY, June 17. The car used by the jewel thieves was found abandoned in Surry Hills, a suburb. The car, which was stolen, contained empty trays. A reward of £250 has been offered for the recovery of the rings.
[There was an audacious robbery tonight (Friday) in George street, which was densely crowded. Several men, in an enclosed car, stopped outside Angus and Coote’s largo jewellery shop. One man threw a brick, shattered a window, seized three trays of diamond rings valued at a considerable sum, and rushed back to the car He, was about to get inside, when a policeman appeared on the scene. The man pointed something resembling a revolver at him, leapt on to the running board, and the car raced away, and was lost in the traffic.]
