There was much saluting and exchange of compliments when Signor Mussolini bade farewell to Herr Hitler at the airport, en route for Munich. The Italian Press features the visit, but does not disclose the results beyond asserting that they will have world-wide repercussions.
GERMANY’S VIEW OF MEETING
LONDON, June 17 (Received June 18, at 11 a.m.)
The Berlin correspondent of the * Sunday Times ’ says that the meeting between Signor Mussolini and Herr Hitler is hailed throughout Germany as a triumph for Herr Hitler. The German Press insists that Signor Mussolini received no monarch with greater deference and pomp than Herr Hitler. Tins, combined with defiance of Britain, has restored the belief that the Nazis have made Germany one of the strongest nations in Europe.
