HUNT CLUB

MEET AT SEA VIEW The Otago Hunt Club met on-Satur-day afternoon at “ Sea View,” Corstorphine, over the properties ot Messrs \Vi Clark, J. Day, W. Hansen, A. Sim, and R. Sim. The followers met at the Dunedin Town Hall at 1.45 and proceeded to Corstorphine. The trail having been laid, the pack was sent away about 3.15, and, picking up the scent quickly and giving plenty of tongue, set the large number of followers a brisk pace. In Mr Clark's property three post-and-rail jumps along the sea coast were well jumped by all. The next obstacle w r as a gorse hedge, which brought the followers into Mr Day’s property, in the vicinity of Green Island Bush. From here the trail brought the followers to a post-and-rail jump at the top of the hill. They then had a good gallop across country, coming on towards the St. Clair golf links. This was followed by a post-and-rail at the rear of Mr Day’s house, and later a gorse hedge was negotiated. This was followed by a post-and-rail, bringing the followers into Mr Hansen’s property. Coming on to the road into Mr A. Sim’s property, the first jump was a post-and-rail near the road. This was followed by two good gorse hedges in the paddock, where the spectators gathered and some good jumping was witnessed. A sharp turn to the right was then taken to jump a post-and-rail, _ bringing the followers into Mr R. Sim’s property, where four good gorse hedges were cleared in splendid style,-the kill taking place in a paddock quite close to the golf links. Miss Violet Burnett was the first lady in at the “ kill,” and thus gained the coveted brush. The hunt was controlled by the master (Mr J. E. Brunton) and the deputy-master (Mr R. C. Greenslade).
