OAMARU NURSES' BALL
Surrounded by colourful decorations, creating a cheerful atmosphere, the nursing 'staff of the Oamaru Public Hospital entertained their friends at their annual ball on Tuesday, June 12. The roof of the dancing hall was covered with tango and canary streamers, while on the Vails the colour scheme was continued with autumn leaf effect. The central feature of the decorations was a large basket, formed by masses of chrysanthemums, above which was a poster of a nurse extending a welcome to the guests. The hall was lit with multi-coloured ' lights, around which' were suspended to match the streamers. Miss Mackie, wearing a cinnamon silk lace frock, cut on graceful lines, received the guests in the lounge, where bronze and yellow chrysanthemums were artistically arranged. Many novelty dances formed part ot the programme, the floral dance preceding supper being a great success. The company then adjourned to the nurses dining room, where" a .bountiful supper was ready. Fruit salad, trifles,, savouries and sweets, all made by, the staff, were, much appreciated, and,- as every-, one was presented with paper caps of quaint original design, the scene was a very gay one The music, .which was generously given by Rae’a . Orchestra, added greatly to the success of the evening. Owing to the willing co-ope-ration of many friends, assisting in various directions, the .nursing staff were able to give a great deal of pleasure to their guests.
