A THRILLING STORY

Mr Jas. Corbett has thrilled numerous readers with his books, on crime, but none has been more exciting than ‘ The Man Who Saw the Devil,’ recently published by Messrs Herbert Jenkins Ltd., Loudon. Charles Ferrier, a brilliant scientist, having . devoted himself to the problem of “ man’s dual nature ” and its manifestation, had for a long time been working on a theory that would liberate man’s ego, which he contended was present in all human beings. In his eagerness to test that theory he gives some of his secret compound to his Russian servant Ivan, and the results are terrible in the extreme, the Russian embarking on a career of crime. Appalling results occur, including murder' and the almost complete wreckage of several lives, before a way is found out of the horrible situation created tby the _ use of the secret compound, the futility of which the scientist happily recognisess in the end.
