DARING ROBBERY

(Received June 16, at 1 a.m.) There was an audacious robbery tonight in George street, which was densely crowded. Several men, in an enclosed car, stopped outside Angus and Coote’s large jewellery shop. One man threw a brick, shattered a window, seized three trays of diamond rings valued at a considerable sum, and rushed back to the car. He was about to get inside when a policeman appeared'on the scene. The man pointed 'something resembling a revolver at him, leapt on to the running board, and the car raced away and was lost in the traffic. £5,000 WORTH OF RINGS STOLEN SYDNEY, June 16. (Received June-16, at 11.30 a.m.) The thieves escaped with £5,000 worth of diamond rings, A constable tried to jump on the running board of the car but he fell to the roadway. Further on a pedestrian was knocked down. Ho grabbed the front of the car, and was carried some distance before he fell to the road. He was slightly injured.
