NORTHAMPTONSHIRE MATCH DRAWN BROWN SCORES 113 Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. . LONDON, June 15. (Received June 16j at 10 a.m.) • The weather , was dull and the wicket good for the resumption of play. After twenty minutes’ scoring Matthews again dismissed Bradman, who, ixx attempting a big off-drive off a fast good-length ball swinging in, played it on. Barnett, who was running for Bradman, remained with Brown, who coxxtinued to give an admirable display, cutting, glancing, and forcing the pace more than usual, yet never making a false stroke. Barnett, hitting powerfully, took 9 olf one over from Matthews, He eventually fell a victim to this bowler. The remainder of the side was soon out. Brown played a brilliant innings and was always master of the bowling. He hit seven fours. As stumps wero to be drawn at 5 o’clock, Northaxxts xvas faced with the impossible task of making 332 in three hours. Snowden was bowled neck and crop just before lunch, and when Grimshaw went out shortly afterwards Northants’ chances of saving the match seemed remote. Bakewell and Timms, however, made stands. Timms severely Eunishcd Bromley before the latter had im stumped, thus securing his first wicket of the tour.
With fifteen minutes left the total was 131 for eight wickets. Partridge xvas smartly caught at the wicket, but Pitt and Broxvn by a plucky defence held out for ten minutes and saved the match, despite a cluster of fieldsmexx around the wickets. Fleetwood-Smith turned the hall tremendously on the slightly worn pitch, axxd finished with ten wickets for 1 the match. Details:
