ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
INJURIES PROVE FATAL, A Christchurch Association telegram states that James Robert O’Brienj aged forty-three, a married man, died m the hospital yesterday evening, as the result of head injuries sustained in colliding with a milk van while cycling on June 7. FATAL SKID. Harry Best, a middle-aged man, a sou of the late Philip Best, was killed instantaneously on the Appleby Main road, Nelson, as a result of his car skidding and breaking through a fence into a paddock. The deceased had almost reached home with his wife and family after attending a picture matinee. The other occupants were not seriously injured. The deceased leaves a family of six. MAORI INFANT DIES FROM BURNS. Serious burns resulting in its death two days later were received by a Maori infant. _ Moana Green, aged five, at Waituhi. The child was in the kitchen of a camp belonging to niaize-pickcrs when its clothing caught alight at an open lire.—Gisborne Press Association.
