COASTWISE MOVEMENTS. Holmglen, from Waikato via Wellington and Lyttelton, experienced further heavy weather yesterday, with the result that she did not make port until very early this morning. She commenced loading, and will be despatched to-night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, 'Wanganui, ' New .Plymouth, and Waikato. Breeze arrived from Bluff this morning to continue loading for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Wanganui, and New Plymouth. She was expected to sail at noon. , Port Waikato, from, Whangarei, Wellington, and Lyttelton, . berthed this morning to load for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Tauranga, Auckland, and Whangarei. She is timed to sail tonight. Waipiata was to come out of dock and sail this afternoon for ’ Bluff. She will return to Dunedin on Sunday, loading out on Monday .for Oamaru, Timaru, Lytetlton, Wellington, and Auckland. . Totara is expected .to-morrow from Wellington to load and sail later for Timaru. Lyttelton, Wellington, and. New Plymouth. Holmdale is due on Monday from Wellington to load and sail the same day for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton. Wellington, Pictou; and Wanganui. Farera is due on Monday from Wellington, and will sail the same day for Bluff. She will return on Wednesday to load cargo for Nelson, Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Port Waikato, Storm, from Wellington,, is due on Monday, and will probably sail that day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. Gale is due at Port. Chalmers on Monday to undergo her half-yearly overhaul, after which she will load for Wanganui via ports. Poolta is due on Tuesday morning from Bluff. She wjll load and sail that day for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne. Opihi leaves Wellington on Monday for Dunedin, being due in nest Wednesday to load and sail that day. for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth. _ Kaimai, with coal from Westport, is due next Thursday, and will load general cargo for Westport. Wingatui was to leave Auckland today for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due here next Thursday. . , , ■ Paua, coastal tanker, is due from Wellington via ports on June 23 to discharge motor spirit. She then proceeds to Bluff, John loads here on June 25 lor Dargaville via ports.
INTERISLAND SERVICE. . The interisland express steamer Wabine arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.45 this morning. Passengers and mails for the south connected with the express. THE CANADIAN SCOTTISHHaving left Melbourne last Monday, tbo Canadian Scottish is due hero via Bluff next Monday to unload cargo from Halifax and to load for her icturn voyage. From Dunedin she sails on Tuesday for Lyttelton, whence she will he despatched for New York. Boston, and Montreal. WAIKOUAITI DUE TUESDAY. With general cargo from Sydney for discharge, the Waikouaiti is due on Tuesday; and is expected to sail the next day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Oamaru, and Bluff; thence to Sydney, Newcastle, and Hobart. THE CANADIAN CRUISER. From Montreal via Brisbane and Melbourne, the Canadian Cruiser is due at Bluff'on June 22 and Dunedin on J uno 23. Thereafter , the vessel will proceed to Lyttelton to complete discharging inward and loading outward cargo, and will then leave for New York, Boston, and Halifax. RUAHINE AT AUCKLAND. The lluahine arrived at Auckland late on Wednesday night from London via the Panama Canal. Passengers booked for Otago will reach Dunedjn to-morrow afternoon. The lluahine will complete discharge at Wellington. TANKER. FROM BALIKPAPAN. The tanker Filefjell is due at Dunedin about June 23 with bulk motor spirit from Balikpapan. The vessel will discharge to the agency of the Shell Oil Company. MATAKANA FROM LONDON. The Matakaiia was to leave London on Wednesday for Auckland and Wellington, being due at Auckland on July 21. Sne is replacing the Tamaroa, which will not how leave London for New Zealand until September 5. AKAROA FOR NEW ZEALAND. The Ak'aroa, which reached Southampton on June 6 from New Zealand, is scheduled to leave London on July 11 for Wellington and Lyttelton. She is duo at Wellington on August 15. MONOWAI DELAYED. The Monowai, having been delayed by rain at Auckland, was to reach Wellington this morning. .Included in the cargo from Sydney are transhipments ex the following vessels —Ballarat, Canberra, Comorin, Justin, Nieuw Holland, Noora, Ormiston, Otranto, Kowarra, Koranui, Kj’okoh Alaru, Mangola Mundalla, Raranga, Taipiug, Time, Zealandia. She was timed to leave Wellington this afternoon on her return to Sydney. WAIRUNA FROM VANCOUVER. The transpacific freighter Wairuna now leaves Vancouver’ on Sunday for Papeete, Rarotonga, New Zealand, and Australia. She will omit United States ports on acount of the shipping strike. The Waihemo is still held up at San Francisco. ' THE WESTMORELAND. After completing loading for London and Hull at Napier, the Westmoreland is scheduled to clear there for London to-morrow, THE CANADIAN HIGHLANDER. The Canadian Highlander, which left Lyttelton on May 2 for New York, Boston, and Montreal, arrived at New York last Friday, and left the following day for Boston, where she arrived on. Sunday. She sailed on Monday fqr Montreal.’ '.TUSCAN.; BTA.It. DELAYED,' The Tuscan Star, en route from London in ballast for New Zealand ports, was . delayed by bad weather, and expected to arrive at Wellington at 11 this morning.: C, AND D. LINE SAILINGS. , The motor ship Port Fairy is to leave London on June 20 for Suva, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Oamaru. She ..will be followed by the motor ship Port Gisborne, which is to leave London on July 11 for Auckland, Dunedin, Bluff, and Timaru. The steamer Port Nicholson is scheduled to leave New York on July 30 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. WHEAT SHIPS ARRIVE HOME. Carrying a full cargo of wheat from South ~ Ausrfalia, the German fourmasted barque Padua arrived at Barry on June 4; ■ completing the voyage from Port Victoria in 108 days. The Padua and the Priwall, which was reported as arriving at Queenstown on June 2, are both big German barques, and were the only German vessels to load pt South Australia this season., Four sailing ships have now arrived at their destination to discharge wheat from South Australia. The Swedish four-masted barque Abraham. Rydberg arrived at Falmouth on April 27, and the Finnish four-masted barque Passat arrived at Falmouth on June, 3. . . WARSHIPS’ MOVEMENTS. H.AI.S. Laburnum sailed for the South Sea Islands'on Wednesday, and yesterday H.M.S. Dunedin came out of dock at Auckland; whilst the Diomede entered dock to continue refitting preparatory to leaving for the South Sea Islands cruise, on. June 25. The Dunedin was to, leave to-day on her Island cruise. They are due back at Auckland on September 4. . lONIC’S ADVANCE LIST. CANADIAN BRITISHER TO RESCUE. ; The steamer Canadian Britisher, on her last trip to Sydney, received distress signals when about seven days out from Halifax from the sloop Golden City, engaged iu trading with the West In-, dies. The vessel, which was sighted off Turks Island, had become becalmed two weeks previously, and the crew of twenty had consumed practically all the provisions on board and were in a desperate plight. Supplies of beef, potatoes, flour, fish, and water were given by the Canadian Britisher. This was , the second occasion on the voyage in which the vessel was called upon to succour another ship, assistance also having been given to the American schooner Franklin Barnet.
AIAUI POAIARE ON SLIP.. - The Alaui Pomare went on the Patent Slip at Wellington on Tuesday morning for cleaning and painting prior to leaving for Apia and Niue. NORFOLK AT LONDON. The Norfolk, which left Lyttelton on April 30 for Hook of Holland and London via Panama, reached London on Tuesday morning. COPPER AND BRASS ! PROPELLERS. Salvage operations on the sunken Russian warship Jemtschug which is being carried out at Penang, resulted in the recovery recently of two solid copper anj brass propellers from the vessel. The main one weighs 15 to 20 tons, and is valued between 15,000 and 20,000 dollars. Its diameter is about 12ft, and the four blades each measure srt by 2Jft. Despite having been submerged for twenty years, there was no sign of corrosion. The other propeller is one of the, side ones; while a third will be brought to shore later with the wreck. PURCHASE OF SHIPS. It is likely that two more sailing ships, the Claudia and the Suzanne, will make the voyage to Australia to load wheat next season, as a result of a recent purchase of Captain Gustaf Erikson, owner of the majority of ; the world’s deep-water sailing ships, which have their home port at Marieham, Finland., ; The Suzanne was built in 1880, and the Claudia in 1884, and both have been engaged in the logwood trade between the West Indies and France. Formerly they were known as the Kylemore and the Pestalozzi, respectively, under which nomes they will probably sail in their new ownership. VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL.
