TRANSMISSION LINE
RECOMMENDATION OF COMMITTEE The Electric Power and Lighting Committee of the City Council recommends that authority be granted to proceed with the work of completing the erection of the third transmission line between Waipori Falls and Halfway Bush, at a total estimated cost of £6,450. The erection of this line was commenced in 1930. and the first seven miles from the power station to Maungatua. together with the final section of about five miles: from Silverstream to Halfway Bush, were complteed. Work on the intermediate section of fiftee nunlcs was then deferred pending some sign of improvement in the economic conditions. The load is now beginning to mount up again, and as the two existing transmission lines arc now together just of sufficient capacity to carry the maximum load during the daytime it is advisable that the gap in the third line be closed at the earliest possible date.
