PRELIMINARY CONVERSATIONS STATEMENT BY FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, June 13. (Received June 14, at noon.) Sir Bolton Eyres-Monsell (First Lord of the Admiralty) said in the House of Commons that his attention had been called to Italy’s decision to lay down immediately two 35,000-ton capital ships. The whole subject of future naval limitation in connection with the 1935 conference was under the Government’s close consideration. Invitations had been issued to four other countries, signatories to the Washington and London naval treaties, to take part ra preliminary bilateral conversations in the near future. All relevant technical questions would, it was hoped, be discussed at these conversations.
