FIRST PRIZE WINNER A MARRIED FARMER THE FIVE POUHDS PRIZES [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Juno 13. Mr H. IV. Rusk, winner of the first prize of £2,000 in the " Happy Co Lucky ” art union, is engaged m farming with his brother, Mr F. Rusk, at Pataka, near Towai, North Auckland, where they have a large property. He has lived in the district all his life. The fa,, i he now occupies was worked by ins father before him. He is married, with two sons aged five and ten years. “ Only last night we were laughingly discussing what we would do with the money,” said Mrs Rusk when advised by telephone of her husband's good fortune. ■' There are plenty of things upon which money can be spent on the farm, some of which wc have, been promising ourselves for years. For instance, we need a new cowshed. A new car and truck would also be useful. Milking machine salesmen who hope to share in the prize money are bound to be disappointed, however,” she added. “Mr Rusk is very proud of his herd of grade Jerseys, which is considered to be one of the best in the district, and lie refuses to use machines, as he considers hand-milking is better. Our forty-eight cows are all milked by hand.” The winning ticket was purchased some time ago by- mail, and Mr Rusk is now awaiting the result of an overseas consultation in which he holds a ticket. He has invested in several previous art unions, but this is his first success. Following are the £5 prize-winners:—
