AUSTRALIAN TEAM’S VISIT [Pm Uxitsd Pruss Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, June 12. The cabled statement that there is a likelihood of the proposed Australian hockey team’s tour of New Zealand being cancelled is denied by Mr IV. H. Dqvvn, secretary of the New Zealand Hockey Association.
It yras incorrect that there was any likelihood of the tour being cancelled, Air Down said this evening. It was true; that the Australian Association hag refused to play the test match at Dunedin on September 1, this being considered too early in the tour, but the New Zealand authorities were meeting the visitors in that respeot, and it was now being arranged that the test should take place at a later date. As soon as that arrangement had been completed Australia would be notified,
[The Otago Association has arranged for the test to be played as a curtain raiser to the Rugby representative match Otago y, Wellington on September 8. ] '■ ,
