MONEY TRANSFER AND EXCHANGE

EVERY CASE CONSIDERED OH MERITS ip** Uin too Pun Association, l WELLINGTON, June 10. An Auckland telegram on Saturday stated that the regulations governing the transfer of money from London to New Zealand had been tightened up, and as a result practically all non-trad-ing accounts, including legacies, lottery prizes, and private remittances were now precluded from participation in the exchange bonus. Inquiries in official quarters reveal that there was no recent alteration in the regulations. Ever since the exchange was raised there had been a rationing of imports of large sums of money into New Zealand, mainly with the object of preventing big British* investors sending large amounts and securing the exchange benefit. Every case of a remittance was considered on its merits, it was stated. Small amounts transferred from England to New Zealand received the exchange benefit, and in some cases large remittances received the same consideration.
