Mr W. Downie Stewart, M.P., left by train for Invercargill this morning on a short visit. Mr Richard Hudson, called to Christchurch on_ business, was a passenger by this morning’s express. Mr S. Bowman and Mr J. Dunlop left for Wellington this morning to attend a meeting of the Dairy Produce Board.

Mr A. W. Hazelwood, bound for Wellington, was a passenger by to-day’s north express. Mr H. H. Sykes, who is on his way to Christchurch, left Dunedin by this morning’s express. Police-inspector D. Cameron, now in charge at Groymouth, came to Dunedin last night on holiday leave. The Rev. W. Maclean, of Columba Church, Oamaru, who has just returned from Australia, has received a call to St._ Andrew’s Church, Bendigo (Victoria). —Wellington Press Association. Mr A. G. Hill, who carried on the management of tho Tourist Bureau’s Dnuedin Office after Mr 11. W. Coupland was transferred to Christchurch, is now in the Auckland office, and tho local office is advised that the new officer in charge here is Mr R. G. Sincock, who is under orders- to transfer from Wanganui, where he has been stationed for five years, and commence in Dunedin at the end of July. Mr Sincock will not be strange to Otago, for he was on the staff here from 1923 to 1929. Mr Kilner is acting in the interim. It is with regret (states the annual report of the Otago Expansion League) that tho death is recorded of Sir Thomas Sidey. who, during his long connection with the league, was ever a. tower of strength. Among the many services he rendered to the league was tho securing of legislation inaking it. ■permissible for local bodies in Otago to contribute from their ordinary revenue towards the funds of the league. His readiness to help and his never failing courtesy made it a pleasure to he associated with him, and his memory will be kept green for many a day in tbe city ho loved and served so well. The mayor (Rev. E. T. Cox) leaves to-morrow to attend the quarterly meeting of tho executive of the Municipal Association at Wellington. Ho will be absent for a week.
