An infernal machine /sufficiently powerful to destroy a whole story, was found in the office of the Vice-Chan-cellor, Prince Starhembcrg. The rooms were being redecorated by a carpenter, who made the discovery. The bomb
contained 51b of dynamite, and there was a- time device set to make it explode when Prince Starhemherg was expected to inspect the work.
The episode, according to reports, adds another to the many outrages suspected to be due to the Nazis or the Socialists, who are suspected of a desire to ruin the Austrian tourist traffic and force the Government into greater expenditure.
The police guarding the railway bridge at Lueg were fired on from the' mountain side, one being killed and others seriously injured. ' Other sabotage includes a railway line blown up at Krems and the destruction in the Danube Valley of steamer wharves. Bomb explosions have also occurred at an agricultural college and at the house of the theatrical producer Max Reinhardt. There have been scores of arrests.
Outrages have also taken place at Innsbruck, where a pipe conducting the water supply to produce electricity for the Arlberg electric railway was blown up in three places, and the house of the loader of the patriotic front at Kappenberg was destroyed.
