STATE’S COMING ATTRACTION A new kind of millionaire “ playboy ” makes his how to movie fans in the big musical extravaganza, ‘ Flying Down to Rio,’ which commences at the State Theatre on Wednesday. The usual brand of riotous living is too tame for him, not enough spice, risk, or enchantment. So he supplies something keener by stunting in airplanes, composing music ‘on a flying piano, and leading a jazz orchestra. In the climax, to win the girl he loves, he stages a musical. show m mid-air! Girls dancing and singing on the wings ; adagio dancers tossing girls from one plane to another, and ballet dancers tripping the light fantastic as thev tumble to earth in parachutes. The first dancing parachutes ever made are used in RKO-Radio s musical extravaganza, ‘ Flying Down to Rio.’ The ’chutes are fitted to the body like a skirt, and when in use they billow out around the waist like a gigantic hoop. They are used by a bevy" of ballet dancers, who, in the climax of the sensational aerial tune show, leap from planes and dance as they drift gently to earth. A tropical beach, covering 10,000 square feet ot floor space, was constructed m a huge sound-proof stage for one of the spectacular sequences in this musical extravaganza. Fifty varieties of equatorial verdure were employed to dress the scene.-
