SYDNEY, April 3. (Received April 3, at 9 a.m.)
Comm, ndcr Wackett, who has been instructed by the Defence Department to assist in the search for tho Southern Cross, leaves Richmond as soon as possible.
Flight-commander Kingsford Smith made a statement which suggests that Smith and UJm were misled by a faked message before their departure. Tho message was to tho effect that tho ground at Wyndham was drying rapidly and there was good weather all along the route.
