ANNUAL MEETING OF SOCIETY Air J. L. Salnioud presided at Hie annual meeting of the AVarnngtem Amenities Society. Tlio report and statement ol accounts ncre read and adopted. T here was a credit balance of Zl'Z Gs Id. r lhe report slated that during the year various improvements had been earned nut. as far as funds would permit, and, thanks to a number of voluntary workers, good progress bad been made with (ho erection of scrub fences on the beach. This had materially raised the level of the sand. The foliowing programme of works was outlined lor the ensuing year:—Beach reclamation, lemoval and re-erection of swings, provision of fireplaces and water supply tor picnickers and dressing shed for ladies, improvement of railway reserve, prevention of fires in plantation, and more effective disposal of household refuse. Attention was directed to the disorderly state of the esplanade and approaches after largo picnics, and it was agreed to ask the promoters of these to assist the society next season _in maintaining better conditions. Owing to the failure _of the majority of the permanent residents to contribute towards the cost of electric lighting at lbs principal crossings, it was decided lo notify the Waikouaiti County Council that the society would be unable to continue the arrangement which bad been carried on for the past two years. The following office-bearers were elected President, Air J. L. Salmond: vice-presidents. Dr Falconer and Air C. Stanley Smith: secretary and treasurer, Air J. B- Abaters; committee— Messrs D. Phillips, 11. AV. I). Brewer, T. Bacbop, T„ Dallas, H. Couper, A. A. Hudson, A. Tk Tyrell, D- C. APKay, A. Allan, 0. Holden, J. G. Butler, and T. APAlian.
