[Per United Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, April 1. In tiie final of the losers’ class in the draughts championship, G. A. Brown (champion) met E. Gibbard. In the first game the latter secured a draw on the usual lines with the black side of the Switcher. Gibbard adopted the 30-25 defence, with the , white side in the second round, and missed the draw on the mid-game. The third game was won by the champion with the black side of the 24-0 Dundee. In the final between G. A. Brown and D. Calderwoocl (ex-champion) the ballot gave Calderwood the black side of the 22-17 Denny. Calderwood lost his bearings in the mid-game possibly on a “crook end,” prepared by the champion. In the second round the position became somewhat involved, the champion failing to find the draw. The aggregate to date in the minor tournament at the end of the eighth round is:
