THE PRINCIPAL EVENTS
[Special to the ‘ Si'Aß.’] There gvere no- sera tubings for the big handicap of the second day, the Autumn Handicap. Corinnx was a hot favourite, Lhc next best fancied being White Fang and Hyde Park. As they went past the stands for the first time round Ti Tree and White Fang were out in front from Eager Rose, Hyde Park, Desert Glow, Corinax, Royal Doultou, Queen Arch, In the Shade, and Papatu. As they raced along the hack Ti Tree and White Fang were still the leaders, followed closely by Eager Rose, Desert Glow, Queen Arch, Hyde Park, Corinax, Royal Doultou, Papatu, and in the Shade. Ti Tree and "White Fang were still leading crossing the top, the others being Desert Glow, Eager Rose, and Hyde Park. The order was the same entering the _ straight, where Desert Glow, hard ridden by M'lnally, drew out and won by threequarter.-, of a length from Hyde Park and White Fang, who dead heated lor second. Corinax was lourth, and then canto Ti Tree, hi tho Shade, Royal Doult.on, Eager Rose, Queen Arch, ami .Papatu. * * * *
The only first favourite to salute the judge so far was Concentrate, who won the Great Northern St. Legcr in. good style. Of the six horses on the card Llanore was the only defection. Concentrate was always favourite, iollowcd closely in the betting by Proclice, the next in demand being Toxeuma. Toxeuma was the first to show out, but Te Money soon headed him, however, The pair were together in the load passing the stands', followed by Prodico and Concentrate on terms, and Lucky Rose last. Along tho back Toxeuma was attended by Concentrate, Te Money, Prodico, and Lucky Rose. Toxeuma was still in charge crossing the top from Prodicc, Concentrate, Te Money, and Lucky Rose. There was little alteration as the field turned for home, except that Te Money dropped back last. Concentrate then came through with a fine run on the rails, arid went on to win by a length and a-half from Toxeuma, who beat Prodicc by half a length. To Money was fourth. 4
All started in the Huia Handicap, for which Aussie was made labourite, Vallar and Lady Quex being the. next best backed. There was only a small amount on Subdivision. Vnllar began the best, and led from Kingfield. Lady Quex, The Aussie, and Marble King. Vallar was first across the top, the others being Kingfield, Lady Quex, The Begum, and Marble King. Tho first to enter it he straight was Vallar, and then came Kingfield, Lady Quex, The Begum, Marble King, and Subdivision. In a good finish Vallar beat Subdivision, who finished fast, by a length and a-half, The Begum being three lengths away in third position. Kingfield was fourth, tho others being Aussie, Royal Tea, Marble King, Lady’s Boy, and Some Lady.
