EFFORTS TO INCREASE WHEAT IMPOST Pm# Association—By Telegraph—Copyright PARIS, March 29. A semi-official statement in ‘Lc Temps ’ sharply criticises the projected efforts to increase the tariff mi wheat from 35 francs ;yor quintal to 45 francs and perhaps 50 francs. The newspaper- asserts that the aid which farmers will derive from the proposed measure is dubious in view of the quantity of the stocks iu the warehouses and the hard winter. Jt adds; “The solo effect would he an added burden to the consumer of 250,OOU.OOO francs and perhaps more.”— Australian Press Association.
