It became known to-day that two clashes marked the Maundy Thursday (Thursday in Holy Week) religions observa nce>.

Major Keith Reach, the Governor ol .Jerusalem, who was lunching with Mi Rndyard Kipling, was railed to settle the squabble at. tlio Sepulchre. at which trouble arose over the. The Governor ordered the Latins to wait until the Greeks had finished their inconsatioii services, and a serious conflict was averted. The Muslom-Christimi quarrel occurred when Franciscan monks arrived on their customary pilgrimage to David’s tomb, known ns the Coenaeuluni. It is owned by a prominent Moslem family, the sheik of wliich refused to permit the monks an entrance and heat a Moslem relative who seemed to favour the monks.
