LIMERICK BEATS WIHALOT HONOUR’S FINE PERFORMANCE. Pffxt* Association— By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, March >-31.The autumn carnival of the Aus< tralian Jockey Club was opened a 4 Randwick on Saturday in fine weather, before a large attendance. The track' was soft as a result of heavy overnight showers. New Zealand horse*, had a successful day, gaining prominence in three events. In addition to the successes of Limerick and Honour,Nedda (owned by Mr B. S._ Irwin, ofi Dunedin) filled third place in the latter’s race, and Paqnito won the second division of the High-weight, while Ring Boy gave promise of future success by coming from the rear of the field to gain a minor place in the first division of the same race. Limerick, the idol of Australian racegoers, restored himself in favour with a brilliant victory in the Autumn Stakes.The champion was blocked _ when about to make a run at the distance, hut came round the field, and in k wonderful finish gained the verdict by three-quarters of a length. He received a wonderful ovation on returning to scale. The New Zealand youngster Honour gave a splendid performance by, winning the Sires’ Produce Stakes after acting as pacemaker for the greater part of the journey. He withstood a desperate challenge from' Comanche, who came fast from the rear of the field. The value of the stake is £4,903. Results: —

The last--named fell passing the stand, and Bagpipes took command ahead 4lf stoney, Realty, and Grosyenor. Bagpipes was thereafter in charge* Praetor fell passing the stand, bringing down Really, who had to be destroyed. Won by two lengths amt a-half. Time, 3min 42£scc. High-weight Handicap, I.ooos o vs.-; 7f.—First division: Poitiers (8.10) 1,King’s Arms (9.1) 2, Ring Boy (9.3)1 3. Sixteen started. Marshon was first away, followed by Portion, Poitiers. and Raisin. At the halt-mila Raisin took charge, and led into the straight ahead of Fool’s Paradise,King’s Arms, and Poitiers. The lastnamed finished strongly and gained the verdict by three-quarters of a; length. Time, liniji 27sec. Second division; Paqmto (N.Z., 9 ■<) 1, Land of Leisure (10.5) 2, Coersion (9.0)| and The Grindstone (8.2) dead heat 3.Fifteen started. Chromium was the early pacemaker from Land of Leisure and Paquito. At the distance Paquito ran to the front and gained the victory by two lengths. Time, limn' 27 l-4sec. Blade Duchess increased her lead to six lcngths ( and was followed by Crucis, 1 aodt Eve, and Winalot. Limerick was second last at the half-mile.
