A RECORD ATTENDANCE The Queenstown Regatta attracted n record crowd. Unfortunately on Saturday tho weather conditions made a nasty jobblc. and tlio regatta bad to be postponed alter three events bad been 'completed; but tbo programme was completed. early yesterday under ideal conditions. Results:— . MAIDEN DOUBLE SCULLS. Port Chalmers (I. Porter str. and J. M'lntyre) ... ... 1 Invercargill (C. Porter str. and C. A. Kcarsc) 2 Otago (W. Cl. Lowric str. and K. Barclay) 3 Invercargill Railway (A and B) and Riverton A. also started. Otago and Port Chalmers led the way from a good start, followed by the A and B Railway crews and Riverton in the order named. Port then got into the lend, and Otago dropped hack, allowing Invercargill to come into second place. The order at halfway was; Port Chalmers, Invercargill, Riverton, and Otago. The Port crew rowed steadily all the way, and gradually increased their lead, and woii by about three lengths from Invercargill. Otago being five" lengths behind third. No time was taken. '('ho voter became nnrowablo at the commencement of tho race, the Port crew being the only one to survive the rough water, therefore winning easily. Of the others, all of which had to make for the shore to empty out, Invercargill canio out again and rowed the disunite to claim second money. SENIOR DOUBLE SCULLS. Otago (K. Brough sir. and C. B. Johnston) 1 Queen's Drive (C. P. Clark str ami L. AV. Pritchard) Seralched; Invercargill Railway. Of the two starters, Queen's Drive struck the water first, ami went ahead to a lead hy a length till within 100yds of the finishing point, when Otago speeded up. and drew past; Queen s Drive to win by half a length. Malheson) 3 Also started; Invercargill and Invercargill Railway, All the crews .struck the water gether. .Queen's Drive had a slight advantage, with Otago and Port close at hand'. Railway and Invercargill dropped back, and Port was leading at halfway, with Otago in second place. Queen's Drive dropped to third, and a great race ensued, but tho positions did not alter. The Port A crow drew away early, with Invercargill next, lollowcd by Port B. This order was maintained throughout, Port A winning hy live lengths, with half a length between second and third. Wallis) 3 Also started; Otago, Invercargill Railway, and North End. From an excellent start Queen s Drive was first out, followed hy Invercargill and Awarua. After half a mile the order was Awarna, Invercargill, Otago, .and North End, with the”last three almost in line. Queen’s Drive quickened the pace and won by three lengths.
