FIRST AID FOR YOUR EVENING SHOES
When tinsel shoes have become tarnished and dull looking, they can he brightened up again with a mixture of tine whiting and methylated spirits. Pat on with a piece ot flannel dipped in the paste, then brush gently with a small soft brush.

After the iimil brushing, wipe immediately with a soft cloth, changing the cloth as ;t becomes damp. Wipe as dry as possible and stand in a draught or out in the open air to finish drying. Satin slippers can also bo satisfactorily surface-dried, using a cold water dye and nibbing it in very evenly all over the slice. The desired shade may lie obtained h\ testing small quantities of the dye on pieces of satin ribbon. Black satin shoes may he made to appear as now wit!; a little gill or silver paint Paint only the heels—contrasting heels to evening shot's are very fashionahl; at present—and strap or bar by which the shoo is fastened, making three small circles or squares in gilt or silver on the bar. The effect is very pleasing, and well worth the effort.
VARICOSE VEINS.
