SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS The South Inland championships, which are to he played this year under the auspices of the Otago Lawn Tennis ■Association, will lie commenced tomorrow, and will continue over Kasier. Bolh on account of the numerical slrcmgth of the entry and the calibre of the players engaged, the tournament promises to be highly successful, and an unusually attractive standard of play should he in evidence throughout, hut more particularly when the semi-final and final stages are reached. Practically all the leading local players are engaged, including. Miss Pattison, the Otago champion, Miss White. Black, and M.'Dongall, holders of the doubles title, W. Bray, K. .1). Ifni hie, and a number of others. (I. Angas, of Christchurch, one of the leading players in the dominion, will he a competitor, as well as Miss Wake (Christchurch). W. (I. Rober.tson (Timarn), and H. Jf. Drew (Dunedin), the holders of the New Zealand junior doubles championship, D. C. Johnston (Timaru), Miss Gibson (Timarn), and .Miss Romans (Oamani). The Executive Committee of the association lias completed all the preliminary arrangements, and the management of the tournament should leave nothing he desired, followers of the game in Dunedin arc assured of a treat during the next few days, and it is anticipated that there will he a large number of spectators at Anderson’s Bay, where the principal matches will be played. The following players are requested to report at the St. Kilda courts at 8.30 to-morrow: —C. Lewis, J. Henry, J, M’Lachlan, R. Morland, Halligan, .Behrens, IT. Ritchie, A. Henry, hong, J. Ritchie, L. M‘J\innon, G. Mayhew. All other men are to report at the Anderson’s Bay courts at 8.30. All ladies are to report at the Otago Club's courts.
