CANADA’S TRADE
A MARKED INCREASE Press Association—By Tslegr iph— Copyright. OTTAWA. March 26. (Received March 27, at 10.15 a.m.) The final official figures have been compiled, and show tnnt 2,560,500,000 dollars represent the total trade of Canada for 1928. This shows an increase of 270,500,000 dollars over 1927, which in itself is greater than Canada’s total trade of thirty year.? ago. Only in 1917 and 1920 has this total ever been exceeded. The imports, amounting to .1,250,000,000 dollars, wore greater than for any previous calendar year except 1920. In' view of the great deflation in the prices of some commodities since the record period, this is regarded by the Government Statistician as a, truly remarkable achievement, reflecting the great expansion of Canadian production and the growth of foreign markets for varied products.—Australian Press Association.
