STRATH-TAIERI A. AND P. SOCIETY
The entries for the above show closed on Saturday last, with a total of 90S as compared with 745 in 1928 and G 25 in 1927. The increase is largely in horses and sheep sections. Sporting events are well up to the usual, and quite a number of competitors from Dunedin, Ta.iori, and up Central have entered. The collie dog driving and yarding (a new class) has been well supported, sixteen having entered for this event. The school garden sections are well represented. Field roots and farm produce, in spite of the dry season, have increased by over fifty, the total being 223. Dread and dairy produce entries are quite up to the usual number. The amateur sheep judging (post entry) should be a very interesting event, and a sale of show stock has also been arranged. The Taicri Pipe Hand lias been engaged for the day, ami, given good weather, everything points to a very successful gathering.
