SHIPWRECK RELIEF SOCIETY
QUARTERLY MEETING The quarterly meeting of the committee of the Shipwreck Relief Society was held yesterday afternoon, Mr C. W- Chamberlain presiding. Upon the recommendation of Captain Attwood it was decided to advance the sum of £SO to the crew of the Mary Elsie, who were destitute as a result of the vessel being wrecked off the Alderman Islands. It was also decided to advance £5 each to the two rssfl and trie boy wiio formed the crew of au oyster cutter which capsized off Waikawa on March 10.
‘The secretary (Mr E. S. Wilson) reported that the sum of £136 14s 0d had been collected on the Union Company vessel* and forwarded to the society.' The following donations were received from tiie various Harbour Boards:—Wellington, £lO 10s; .Nelson, £2 2s; Oainarn, £3 3s; Thames, £1 Is; ) Riverton, ’£2 2s; Auckland, £lO 10s; Gisborne, £2 2s; Wanganui, £2 2s. Tin Invercargill Borough Council also jjouated £2 2s. The secretary and treasurer were * .authorised to invest the anus of £3OU in City .Corporation debentures.
