PIGEON FLYING
The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew a race last Saturday from Ashburton,- an air line distance of 151 miles. It was a good day for flying, and the birds put up good times, the winner covering the distance in 3h 20min. The station master liberated 100 birds from 18 lofts, with the following result, in yards per minute;— A. Stevenson’s Master Osman (1,332), 1 ; R. Parker’s Peter Boy (1,328), 2; W. Douglas’s Little Dixie (1,326), 3; C. Conley’s
Dimples (1,325), 4; L. Tonka's Good Sport (1,322), 6. Birds entered by G. Coutts, Ivan Frost, ,J. Hardgfaves, J. Lynn, C. Ruxton, J. Still, G. Moffitt, H. Millard, W. Hargreaves, F. Jones, V. Kelly, C. Oliver, and J. Scoular also flew.
