NATIONAL COURSING ASSOCIATION

THIRTY-THIRD ANNUAL MEETING The thirty-third annual meeting of the National Coursing Association of New Zealand was held last evening, Mr B. S. Irwin (president)- presiding over a large attendance of delegates. It was fitting that some mention be made regarding the death of Mr DAlexander (president of the Southland Coursing Club) at the annual meeting, and a motion of sympathy was .passed with the relatives of deceased. An apology for absence was received from Mr J. Thomson. ANNUAL REPORT.

The annual report stated that during the paVt season the sport was successfully managed by tbe affiliated clubs throughout the dominion. The North Island clubs being more fortunate in the financial side ,of their administration, most of which showed a reasonable credit balance over the year’s operations. The Waterloo for 1928 was allotted to the Wairarapa Club, but late in the season it abandoned the rights, and the Wnitara Club (Taranaki) took over control, and attended to the arrangements with satisfaction. The New South Wales Association, which controlled the last Australasian Waterloo, lias assets of £2,000 over liabilities, and announces that added money during the present season will amount to £I,OOO, together with a cup and other trophies. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £57 4s sd. The President, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that the report spoke for itself, and with regard to the balance-sheet the registration fees had been the solo revenue, which was satisfactory, 'the secretary bad been'particular with tbe funds, and the work done by him was groat! yapprcciated. Lee (Dunedin). W. Mellicr (Frankton Junction), E. G. Price (Christchurch), M. H. Seddnn (Wnitara). C. R. Marks (Thames Valley). F. Foster (Taranaki) ; secretary, Mr H. H. Hiyers (re-elected) ; treasurer, Air K. G, Price (re-elected) ; delegates to the Australasian Coursing Union, Messrs 11. Coombes and M. Taylor. GENERAL. Two applications were received from tbe Southland and Christchurch Clubs asking that the 1929 Waterloo Cup. be hold in the respective cities, it being eventually decided that the fixture be run in Southland in tbe third week of July, and the New Zealand Council reserved the right, to appoint a judge and a slipper. The coursing season, in accordance with the Australasian Coursing Union ruling, will be extended from September 17 to October 17 in each year. Air J. A. White (Christchurch), who was suspended in 1926 for misconduct at a coursing meeting, applied for reinstatement.—Granted, subject to his forwarding an apology to tbe Christchurch Club. Air honorarium of £lO 10s was granted the secretary for his work, and £2 2s to his lady assistant. OTAGO CLUB’S DRAW. .

Railston’s Aleadow Lark, Dickson’s Taierl Lad v. M'Plierson’sMate o’ Aline, James’s Rapid Fire v. AUPberson’s Royal Anthem. On Saturday a supplementary stake will be commenced, and will be open to all dogs.
