GOOD TEMPLARS
The Pride, of Waitali Lodge, No. 52, heir! a, special .meeting on Monday last in the Good Templar Hall, Bro. H. Beasley, Chief Templar, presiding. There was a good attendance of members, and. also of naval brethren from H.M.S. .Dunedin anil visitors from the Rescue Lodge, Dunedin. The Chief Templar extended a cordial welcome to the visitors, to which. Bros. Ansley and Kallean (H.M.S, Dunedin) replied behalf of Loyal Alelro.se Lodge, Wellington, and JCndeavour Lodge, Auckland; Rro, W. lies responding on behalf of Rescue Lodge. The following members provided the programme lor the evening:—Solos, Bro. 'Kallean, Sisters Wilkinson, Phlllpott, ('. Reas ley, Robertson, - and Rro. Sharp. Bro. Robertson rendered violin selections, and Rro. Hunt a recitation. The Star of Hope Temple also met, Sister Wilkinson, S.J.W., in charge. One candidate was initiated, and a number of members rendered items. The naval brethren also attended the temple, and conveyed greetings from temples in Wellington and Christchurch. The meeting of the All Nations Lodge, No. ]•'», was held in the old Town Hall. Currie street, Port 'Glial-; tiiers, on Thursday night, Rro. W. I). Campbell. P.G.T., presiding in the absence of the Chief Templar. There was a, good attendance of members and visitors, among whom were Sister Symington (Assistant-Grand Secretary) and Bros. Wearing and Kcllean of H.M.S. Dunedin; members of the Rescue Lodge were also present. The following members provided the harmony;— Bros Wearing and Kcllean, solos ami duels; Sister Jeffries, solos; Sisters Osborne and Wade, recitations. Greetings were received from a number of Wellington and Christchurch lodges and juvenile temples. A. rote of sympathy was passed to Sister Brown and Rro. AHCormack, whoso brother had recently died from the effects of an accident.
The weekly meeting of the Rescue Lodge, No. 105, was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, King Edward street, on Friday of last week instead of Tuesday, on account of the flood. Chief Templar Bro. W. A. Kies presided over'.i largo attendance. Visitors from the following were accorded_ a. hearty' welcome : —Wellington, District No. A, Star of Freedom No. 5, Pioneer No. 11, Star, of Wellington No. 12, All Nations’ No. 13, Star of Newtown No. 24, Endeavour Lodge No. 82, Hope of Dunedin No. 155. Greetings were received from numerous other lodges and temples throughout- New Zealand, Great Britain, Gibraltar, and Malta. After the usual business had been completed the lodge was handed over to the naval brethren from H.M.S. Dunedin to officer and entertain, the following items being contributed: —Solos, Sisters J). Sell, Sirs Webster, Mrs Williams, Bro. Pike (H.M.S. Dunedin); recitations, Bro. Harris (H.M.S. Dunedin), Sister Williams, Bro. Dryden (H.M.S. Dunedin). Bro. T. H. “Dalton spoke_ on the general advance of the order' throughout New Zealand, which was very encouraging, also of the fine work carried out by Grand Assistant-secre-tary Sister G._ Symington, who was
present and who is also superintendent of tho largest juvenile temple in New Zealand, St. Thomas’s. Supper was handed round.
