OTAGO YACHT CLUB The Otago Yacht and Motor float Club hold a .series of races on Saturday afternoon under ideal weather conditions. Tlie principal event was the annual harbour race between motor boats for the Moffat Cup. About leu boats wore entered, but only live started. The rue.? was started from the boat harbour entrance, the course being down the Victoria channel to Carey’s Bay and back to the starting line. Th» race resulted: — Ngaio ... ... } Miss Bruce 2 Marcwa 3 Sunfisber and Stella, were the oilier competitors, ’The All-eomcrs Handicap Yacht Race was contested hy eight boats, including most of the larger type of yachts. With all sail set, the competing yachts made a very fine showing in the light north-east wind. Result : Minnow 1 , Starlight* ... ... 2 Shadow EAVEHSBOURNE BOATING CLUB The Ravenshounio Boating Club held a. series of nice.- on Saturday alternoon. Ihe wind was light Irom the north-cast. Very low boats put in an appearance, aiid the events were, in consequence, robbed o! the usual interest. Three boats started in tiic race lor the Oliphanl Cup. ’Phis is an annual event, confined to the 14-iooter class. Winifred was the first away at gunfire, being elosev followed by Squib and Eileen. On'the run to the Upper liarhour mark the boats kept together. Eileen rounded the three logs murk lOscc in the lead of Squib, and 12sec in tlie lead of Winifred. Wn_ the heat up to the mark at Challis s Eileen maintained her lead, and rounded the buoy 4()sr,e almad of Winifred. Squib was a long way astern. Her skipper made 1 lie mistake, of sailing too close to the Peninsula shore. Winifred gained on Eileen on the run hack, fo the Upper Harbour mark, and was only 9sce astern of tbo Sanders Cup challenger when the boats came on the wind again Squib retired at this stage. Eileen easily held her lend on the heat to the starting line, and finished about one minute in flic lead of "Winifred. Two model yacht races were sailed. These drew large entries from the boys. ’The results were:—"First class: D. Connor's Rothesay 1, F. Bullen’s Daisy‘2. Second class- J, Tomlinson's Betty 1, C. Todd’s Bonnv 2.
